homemade poopourri spray

i'm one of those types of people who loves my home to smell good. whether its spic-n-span clean (yeah right!) or a complete tornado, i like it to smell good. and i've been on the hunt for something that smells good. all the time. and i've been through the gammit of home smelling products. plug ins off the grocery store aisle, candles, scentsy, room sprays, the list goes on. and then the essential oil realm really started happening on both my facebook & pinterest feeds.

i'm a skeptic. i really am. i was raised on the idea of "if its too good to be true, then it probably is." and thats how i was and still am about essential oils. i'm far from the "oily type", but i have a few, mainly as a source to make our home smelling good & fresh without completely putting a bunch of chemicals in the air. this article always pops up in my head when i wander down the air freshener aisle. im pretty sure if i watch the human experiement on netflix i'll be scarred forever. so please forgive me if you don't find me rubbing oils all over myself anytime soon.

on a recent trip to natural grocer to pick up some whole wheat flour & rosemary oil for diffusing & damon was on a hunt for beard oil - more on that another day, because we made our own too.  i had another lightbulb moment there once i saw all the amazing little blue glass bottles. at local boutiques & fairs, poopourri bathroom spray has become quite a novelty item to have. and i wasn't sold on it at first (skeptic remember?) but after actually using the item, sold!! that boutique price tag had me saying otherwise. its my frugal nature.

we've been using ours now for a few days & yep, i'm totally hooked & convinced of it. skeptic no more.

what you'll need:
4 ounce glass spray bottle (must be glass - fun fact: essential oils eat plastic)
rubbing alcohol
distilled water (if you dont have any, you can acheive this by boiling tap water)
peppermint essential oil
lemon essential oil
lavender essential oil
funnel
measuring spoons/cup

begin by putting 15 drops of each essential oil in the glass bottle.
add 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol to the bottle.
fill remaining with of distilled water.
put sprayer lid back on.
shake to mix.

make sure if you have littles to keep that bottle up where they can't easily access it, because you how glass works.

i've added "print a label" for my bottle on my to-do list, but i haven't gotten there yet. "spray twice before you go & no one will ever know." catchy right? its not mine, i don't take credit at all.

have you ever used the bathroom poopourri or have it in your home? what do you think? after out the door costs - i had the oils, rubbing alcohol & water already available, my out of the store cost was roughly $2 with tax included.

we're link up here so be sure to check out the party.
